The Louise & Arnold Kotler Gallery at the John F. Germany Library presents Afro by Agyenim Wiredu.
Wiredu’s work explores ideas of self-identity and how life’s experiences, particularly cultural and societal influences, shape one’s perception of self. His art embodies the Akan concept of Sankofa which emphasizes learning from the past to move forward.
Reflecting on his youth, Wiredu draws upon his earlier experiences, mediums, and themes as a foundation of his current work. From this base, he incorporates elements of the present as he continues to shape his artistic future.
An art reception will be held November 15, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, sponsored by the friends of the John F. Germany Library.
The exhibition will be on display from November 8th through December 31st.
